There is no doubt that having a home computer increases the amount of activities and information people can have access to. With an Internet connection, people can download all sorts of programs and information from around the globe. This access also creates havoc when viruses are downloaded by accident. People who find their computer crashes on startup may have accidentally let a virus into their system. The computer needs to read information from the bio in order to setup all of the internal mechanisms. When this information is compromised, it cannot perform the start up operation.
People do not want to stop using download websites, so how can this disaster be prevented. It is recommended to download only from sites you are familiar with. It is also wise to have a security program installed on your machine. Most of the newer security programs have the ability to run back-up checks on websites as you visit them. This type of check will alert you to any reported problems associated with the site so you have the choice of leaving it. This helpful check does not always work for e-mail accounts, so people should not open e-mails they receive from strangers or click on links inside the e-mail message as many of these lead to automatic downloads for virus programs.
While viruses are certainly the number one cause of disruption in a computer’s system, it is not the only cause. If your computer freezes on boot up it could be due to a program you installed that changed information in the bio or registry. This is often evident if the screen goes to the start of loading the operating system and then freezes. This indicates something within the operating system’s main registry has been altered to the degree that the system cannot start. Unfortunately, the only way to recover use of the machine is to reinstall the main operating system, which will erase everything on the primary hard drive.
