Why Build Buildings?
Shelter is the primary reason for building, be it at home, at work, and at play. All buildings must shelter us from forces of nature like the rain, wind, sun, and cold. Buildings also provide security. Some of the worlds most famous structures like the Great Wall of China were built to defend against enemies. Most buildings provide places for religious activities like temples, churches, and mosques. One of the best examples is the Reims Cathedral in France that inspires the worshippers.
Some buildings are built for the arts. Russians Used Conservatory flourish in Russia to house talents of various kinds. Well known of these is the Saint Petersburg Conservatory where the famous Tchaikovsky learned harmony from his teacher Anton, Rubenstein-excellent pianist and composer.
Today, architects design all kinds of buildings to meet the demands of our modern life. Towers and skyscrapers today almost reach the sky and provide for offices, large apartments and condominiums. Shopping centers and malls today occupy huge hectares of land and offers complete amenities to shoppers.
